Le Fauch'Heure

Pitch:

You and friends died in a car crash but death itself is willing to let one of you live if you play a game. Run away from from the hand of the clock to not get reaped ! The last one standing will get resurrected.

Rules

Each turn, a player will lay down one of the 4 cards in his hand. He can play a movement card, an action card or one of both types. Once all players are done, the reaper will reap any soul within his reach, indicated by the small hand of the clock. The last ghost alive wins and gets resurrected.

Balancing

We believed that 15 minutes would be the ideal duration for a single game. A longer game would feel repetitive and boring and a shorter one would leave the players unsatisfied. So I worked towards that objective when I had to balance the card distribution.

The movement cards were numbered from 0 to 6 and distributed evenly in the deck. However, during play testing, we noticed that games ended too quickly because there were too many 0s and 6s which gave some players too much power while leaving the others powerless. Having less cards with extremes values and more with middle values fixed this issue.

Personal thoughts

I love board games so I enjoyed myself throughout the entire project. The theme was really fun and my teammates were the best I could ask for. Watching Le Fauch'Heure taking shape throughout the week was amazing and I just wish we had more time to tweak a few details here and there. Balancing was almost on point (games were slightly longer than what we agreed upon). Overall, awesome experience ! Would do it again !
